FAQs
Q: |
What grade levels participate in your collective? |
A: |
We welcome lower elementary (grades K-2), upper elementary (grades 3-5), middle school (grades 6-8), and high school (grades 9-12) students. We understand that grade levels are fluid, so we work closely with our parents to ensure that each child is appropriately placed based on his or her abilities and social development. |
Q: |
When and where do you meet? |
A: |
Our year begins in August and ends in May. We meet every Tuesday at a local church near Paris Mountain State Park where we rent space. First and second period classes are held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a lunch break afterward. Recess and club activities follow and conclude for our elementary students by 1:30 p.m. Our middle and high school students attend third period classes from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Optional field trips are scheduled outside of our normal class schedule. |
Q: |
Are you a drop off co-op? |
A: |
Include Collective is parent-led, and dropping off of students is not allowed. A parent or guardian must attend all meetings with his/her child and provide volunteer services in various capacities throughout the year. Parents are expected to take an active role in facilitating class activities and are encouraged to share their talents and skills with our students. |
Q: |
Do you accept part-time members? |
A: |
No, Include Collective does not allow part-time memberships. Our classes are carefully planned and resourced with the expectation that members will attend all scheduled meetings. |
Q: |
What curriculum do you use? |
A: |
Class offerings vary from year to year based on the needs and wishes of our families. After course selections are completed, our teachers work closely with our curriculum coordinator to select curricula based on student needs and teacher preferences. All curricula used in our classes are secular in nature and present facts, principles, models, and theories recommended by the majority of practicing experts within their fields of study. |
Q: |
What are your classes like? |
A: |
Include is an academically focused collective. We provide core academic classes conscientiously geared to our four grade levels: lower elementary (K-2), upper elementary (3-5), middle school (6-8), and high school (9-12). Our classes are excellent resources for parents who wish to outsource some of their students' classes as part of their broader homeschooling objectives. All Include Collective classes are age appropriate with engaging, interactive formats. While homework or testing may be offered at our teachers' discretion, these are not required.* Each child's level of participation is parent managed based on the needs and goals of the student. In addition to key academic courses, Our students also enjoy lively group activities, special interest electives, clubs, guest speakers, holiday parties, and exciting field trips.
* Math classes include required homework asignments and continuous evaluation which are necessary for successful class participation, mastery of subect matter, and successful progression through a standard sequence of math courses. Please note that math classes are optional. |
